Air Asia

The Easy Jet or Ryan Air of Malaysia
Now to Thailand and Indonesia!!!

Malaysia Airlines brings you very comfortable to various destinations in Malaysia. You can read about this company on another page on this website < click >.
But there are inside Malaysia other airlines active, like Pelangi, Air Asia, Berjaya.
Air Asia is the second largest airline in Malaysia. It doesn't have so much planes as Malaysia Airlines has, but it's very aggressive with its fares! And that is what we like, as consumers. We could say that Air Asia is the Ryan Air or Easy Jet of Malaysia.
They fly all over the peninsular and even they fly to Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo. Air Asia departs, just like all the other airlines, from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which you can reach by coach, taxi or train.
To make it easy for us, tourists, I've added a pricelist below of Air Asia and all the destinations, where they are flying to.
The pricelist counts for the end of 2003 and the beginning of 2004. In the meantime Malaysia Airlines worries for their domestic flights and sometimes they want to compete with Air Asia on some stretches. But..... Air Asia is not so big and they also stunt with their fares to some destinations.
A one way trip with Asia Airlines from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bahru costs € 9,00. Travelling to Kota Kinabalu or Labuan on Borneo will cost you € 25,00. And if you like to go diving or snorkelling on the island of Sipadan, a ticket to Tawau on the continent of Borneo will cost you € 25,50 The fares are all from Kuala Lumpur!
Actually the prices are very cheap. A real bargain for us.
How to make a booking. Well, that's also very easy. They have got a website, where you can make a reservation "online" from any country in the world. Their website: .
In the Netherlands Malaysia Airlines haven't got a website, so with this website of Air Asia, where you can make a reservation online they are one step ahead of the other company. Of course, it's true, that the transportation is much more important to Air Asia than the service on board of the plane.

Passengers, traveling to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (have a look at the special site of KLIA site<cllik >) for departure with Air Asia, can opt for the special new non-stop, high-speed train between the KLIA (the National Airport of Malaysia) and Kuala Lumpur Sentral. The station in KL is close to the center and de business district of the capital.

The very comfortable KLIA Ekspres departs every 15 minutes between 05.00 hours in the morning and 01.00 hour at night, seven days a week. In only 28 minutes the train will bring you to your destination. In the future the frequency will raised to a departure of the trains in every 10 minutes.
A ticket for adults will cost you 35 RM, or €9,00 for a one way trip. It's a good alternative for the expensive taxi.
Tickets can be sold and different counters in the arrival hall. Also are there several hotels, where you can buy a ticket for KLIA.
You can also buy your ticket by credit card.
